Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is frequently used. This particular version has telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Within most warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and could maximize available storage space while increasing production.
