Narrow Aisle Forklifts
Some lift trucks are specially made to fit down very narrow aisles in a warehouse. These models are known as narrow aisle lift trucks. They could negotiate smaller aisles easily and enable you to enjoy several advantages. For instance, the increased amount of space to keep things could really increase the overall available inventory of a company.
Narrow aisle lift trucks are able to maneuver easily too. These machinery have been specifically designed to move without a lot of space. Their unique design has eliminated many of the items which are squished up into the design of the traditional lift truck's main body.
These lift trucks are very slow in comparison to standard lift trucks which is one of their main disadvantages. If you have to transport objects across huge areas, the narrow aisle lift truck is not the best. In terms of speed they would not be a reliable alternative. If you also have a regular lift truck, this will not be an issue. You could simply use the narrow aisle lift truck to move the load to a central location and then hand it off to a standard forklift which could travel the bulk of the distance in an efficient and timely way. Frequently, narrow aisle lift trucks cannot handle as much lifting weight; therefore, outside of smaller loads they are not going to be very useful.
Electric Lift Trucks
Conventional gas forklifts are not a suitable choice for indoor use such as warehouses or stores. They would not be as safe due to their fumes, or as cost-efficient or useful than an electric powered unit. Electric forklifts are normally engineered to look and function a lot like gas ones, but they rely on electric batteries which must be recharged, rather than gasoline fuel.
The electrically powered forklift has become more popular and for a range of reasons. These equipment could help businesses save costs on fuel. Electric units would initially cost more, but would ultimately save you more over time. For example, when gas prices increase, you will not be affected and will save lots of cash. Electric units tend to last somewhat a bit longer compared to gas powered units as well. This is partially because of the fact they are mainly used indoors and therefore don't get as dirty or work in as harsh settings as the gas powered ones. Electric models are healthier to utilize in badly ventilated places such as warehouses and indoor operations as they don't emit noxious fumes. It can be extremely dangerous to use diesel or gas forklifts inside.
Among the major disadvantages to electric forklifts is the fact they could usually only work for one 8 hour shift before the battery needs to be charged for another shift. Many businesses get around this situation by buying an extra battery so they could have less downtime and continually cycle them. There are fast charge batteries available on the market that are also reducing the charging time.
