Available nowadays, there is a huge variety of articulating lifts, with many kinds of lifts to fit each application, circumstance and work place. There are certain manufacturers who specify in lifts for dangerous environments such as petro-chemical plants, underground tunnel situations, and other locations where there is a danger of explosive gases or dust, for example in grain-processing plants.



Some lifts have been mounted to big flatbed trucks or onto trailers or onto the back of a pick up truck. There are types of lifts that include articulating booms which can be self-propelled and are controlled by the lift operator, whereas others could pivot 360 degrees.



There are lift models designed specially for indoor and outdoor use, and come in 4-wheel and 2-wheel powered models. In some situations, the platforms are adjustable and some models have baskets where the employee stands. These platforms or baskets are adjustable and enable the workers to remain level or swing into location, depending upon what the operator must finish the task. There are some platforms and baskets that come wired so as to allow the operator to plug tools in as required.
