A type of equipment in the material handling business which can be used to lift and move loads from one location to another is referred to as a forklift. Each and every component of a forklift has a particular function. Different parts can be used to move the load either vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lower and lift the load. There are different kinds of masts for raising loads to different heights: quad, simplex, duplex and triplex.
Power Supply
There are four different ways you could power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is situated in the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is underneath the back of the truck.
Cab
Located in the middle of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all located inside the cab.
Frame
The truck frame carries all the largest components of the forklift, like the counterweights, that are situated at the rear in order to stop the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
