How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks that could have otherwise needed working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machine make it the right alternative for performing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machinery needs to be positioned next to an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area must also be in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated near the control box or the charger, in the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Usually, older models would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger can potentially take place.
