The Carriage
The carriage is similar to a typical forklift since the lifting attachment could be tilted forwards and backwards from its horizontal. The tilt which is possible on this machinery exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There are different kinds of available lifting attachments, and this ability to position makes them as efficient as possible.
The majority of telehandlers have the capability of tilting to a position which is actually parallel to the ground. Several units have rotating carriages as well. This enables the operator to adjust the lifting attachment radially. This translates to the load being able of being tilted forwards and backwards, and side to side.
Load Capacity
Knowing the load capacity of a telehandler is a much different exercise than it is on a vertical mast model. The capacity of the unit is entirely dependent on such things as: the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable and boom extension and angle, whether the unit is lifting on rubber tires or on outriggers. As well, which lifting attachment plays an important part, as does the wind, the grade the machinery is operating on etc. All of these specifics can be changing on a constant basis and this gives the operator a lot more information to consider.
Telehandlers will often have some different load charts available to them, giving them a good reference they could utilize to determine a certain lift's load capacity. Depending upon the model in particular and the boom's configuration, the load capacity could differ by thousands of pounds all together.
